What is Touhou?

Touhou Project is a Japanese bullet hell game series created by a solo developer called ZUN (using the name Team Shanghai Alice). The series also includes spin-offs, mostly fighting games.

How I got into Touhou

I first heard about Touhou in a YouTube video (I don't remember which video it was), where it was mentioned as being extremely difficult.
After hearing that I wanted to try it myself, so I downloaded Touhou 7: Perfect Cherry Blossom. Since I had little experience with bullet hell games at the time I was really terrible at it but something about the music and overall atmosphere of the game felt special, so I wanted to play it more. After beating PCB I started playing other games from the series but it still remains my favourite out of them all.

How to get Touhou games?

If you want to buy the games legally, then the Purchasing Guide from the Touhou Wiki is a great resource, however older games that aren't on Steam are difficult to get and the retro games aren't really sold anywhere anymore. If you're fine with piracy then the Moriya Shrine website is a great resource for both official and fanmade content.
